A couple of years ago, To Asia With Love was published, a compendium of travellers’ tales from across the continent that provided insight and inspiration about aspects of Asian life that might otherwise be missed. Less dry than a guidebook and less work than a ponderous full-length travelogue, To Asia With Love combined pithiness with experience. It proved to be such a success that there is now a whole raft of books scheduled for publication, each one dealing with a different Asian country. The series is the brainchild of Kim Fay, who also runs the excellent ThingsAsian website. I was invited to contribute to To Vietnam With Love, so I came up with something about shopping for Vietnam war propaganda posters in Hanoi, which I’ve written about before here on Travelhappy. It also uses elements from Don’t Miss: Hanoi, my own rundown of why I love Vietnam’s capital city so much. (Although, after 5 visits in 4 years, I think I might be over it now).
