7 Reasons You Should Travel in 2016
1. There’s so much to see
There are 196 recognised countries in the world and if you’re anything like me then you’ll have visions of visiting all of them throughout your lifetime. Even if you don’t plan to visit them all, them I’m sure you’ve got a pretty long list of places you do want to go. Start working your way through them sooner rather than later.
2. Travel makes you feel alive
There’s no better feeling than breaking out of your ordinary routine, jumping on a plane and visiting somewhere new, fresh and exciting.
Eating new foods, hearing different languages, learning about new cultures, experiencing beauty in the world and everything else that goes along with travel always makes me feel so much more alive, happy and excited about life. If that feeling alone doesn’t make travel worthwhile, then I don’t know what will.
3. You’ll learn so much about yourself
Travel is one of the absolute best ways to learn more about yourself – especially solo travel. When you’re out of your comfort zone you’ll quickly learn about situations you are and aren’t comfortable with, things you love, things you hate and everything else.
If you’re travelling alone you’ll learn that you’re so much more confident, capable, strong and independent than you ever would imagine when you’re stuck at home commuting to the office and back every day.
4. You’ll learn so much about the world
Did you know there are more than 6,000 languages spoken around the world?
Did you know there are more than 4,000 different religions in the world?
Did you know there are more than 1,000 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the world?
These statistics help to show just how vast and incredible planet earth really is. By travelling to new places you’ll expose yourself to learning so much about other cultures, languages, ways of life and everything else. There’s no better way to learn about these things than to actually get out there and experience them for yourself.
5. Travel makes precious memories
Most of my absolute favourite memories are to do with travel in some way or another. Some are about wonderful people I’ve met whilst travelling, some are about places I’ve simply fallen madly in love with and others are those weird stories that you kind of had to be there for.
It’s crazy to think I wouldn’t have some of my best memories if I’d never actually got out there and travelled and it makes me so incredibly happy that I have.
6. You’ll experience things you otherwise couldn’t
There’s no better way to have new experiences than out there in the world travelling. There’s no way you’d be able to see the dancing Northern Lights colouring the sky from your home in London and there’s no way you’ll be able to experience swimming in the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea without actually getting off your butt and travelling there.
Pretty much all of the best experiences of my life have been had whilst I’ve been travelling, and I wouldn’t change that for anything.
7. It can change your life
Travel can change your life in a way that not many other things can. You might find yourself visiting New York City and falling in love with it so much that you decide to move there. You might be so intrigued by an exotic language that you decide to learn to speak it yourself. You might meet friends from all corners of the globe that you’ll communicate with and visit for years to come. Who knows!
